The Midwest Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (MRCSP) will hold a meeting for the public on July 18, 2007 to provide information on a planned project to demonstrate the potential for deep geologic storage of carbon dioxide as a means to address global climate change. The proposed demonstration site is an existing oil and gas field, located off Sparr Rd. west of Sawyer Rd. in Charlton Township.
The meeting is open to all interested individuals, groups, and agencies. Two sessions are being offered: from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The informational meetings will be held in the elementary and high school libraries at the Johannesburg-Lewiston Area School, 10854 M-32, Johannesburg. Entrance to the building will be through the northern, middle school door leading to the libraries. Parking is available in the middle school parking lot. Each session will open with a brief introduction and PowerPoint explanation of the proposed project. Information tables/stations will be available for people to visit and ask one-on-one questions of the various agencies and groups involved (i.e., Core Energy, LLC; DTE Energy, Western Michigan University, Battelle, and U.S. EPA).
